Nwe Oo, CHAA’s director of Health Equity Programs for immigrants, addressed the United Nations General Assembly in a Special Session on Refugees and Migrants. Nwe, herself a former refugee, addressed the special needs and issues of Refugees and Migrants. As a member on the speaker selection committee, Nwe was one of the organizers of the Special Session, which resulted in the New York Declaration. This historic declaration creates concrete strategies and measures towards establishing the rights of refugees and improving their treatment and status globally.
